One firm, roof to driveway
Southridge Roofing and Groundworks is Charles’s firm. It covers the whole outside of a building, from the ridge tiles down to the last block on the drive, across Beckenham, Chislehurst, Catford and Blackheath.

Why one firm for both trades
Most exterior work needs more than one trade. New roof, then the render. New drive, then the drainage. Patio, then the wall holding the garden up. Hire that out separately and you end up project managing three firms who each blame the other two, and paying for the same scaffold twice.
Southridge does the lot. One survey, one quote, one set of dates and one person answering the phone when you want to know what is happening. If something is not right, there is no argument about whose job it was.
That is what “one company, every solution” means on the card. It is not a slogan we bought in, it is how the work is actually run.
Our own team on site, laying a driveway.
What happens when you ring
No pressure, no clipboard salesman, and no price plucked out of the air over the phone.
You call, text or WhatsApp
Tell us roughly what you have got, and send a photo if you can. Half the time we can tell you straight away whether it is a repair or a replacement.
We come and look
Properly, up a ladder or with a tape measure, not from the pavement. Free, and there is no obligation at the end of it.
You get it in writing
A written quote with what is included, what is not, and the dates we can start. Read it in your own time.
We turn up and do it
Staged payments against work done. Site left clean at the end of every day, and cleared properly at the end of the job.
The standards we build to
Anyone can say “quality guaranteed”. These are the actual standards the work is set out against, and you are welcome to check them.
- BS 5534
The British Standard for tiling and slating. Every tile mechanically fixed, not bedded on mortar and left to the wind.
- BS 8612
Dry-fix ridge and verge. Mechanically fixed, mortar free, and virtually maintenance free.
- Breathable underlay
Modern membrane plus proper ventilation, so lofts stay dry instead of turning into condensation and rot.
- Correct code lead
Valleys and flashings in the right code of lead, with the right laps. It is where cheap roofs leak first.
- MOT Type 1, compacted in layers
Sub-base built up in 75 to 100mm layers and compacted each time, on a geotextile membrane.
- Drainage that complies
Permeable surfaces or drainage to your own land, so a new driveway does not need planning permission.
Where we work
Beckenham, Chislehurst, Catford and Blackheath, plus the streets around them: Bromley, Bellingham, Hither Green, Lee, Lewisham, Sydenham, Penge, Mottingham and Petts Wood. South East London and North West Kent, and nothing we cannot get to and back from in a day.

Large period houses on big plots. Complicated roofs, valleys, chimneys and lead work.
Catford, SE6
Edwardian terraces and villas. Roof repairs, chimney rebuilds, roofline and front parking.
Blackheath, SE3
Conservation area homes. Heritage slate, proper leadwork and repairs matched to what is there.
Surrounding areas
Bromley, Lewisham, Sydenham, Penge, Lee, Petts Wood and the rest of the patch.
Domestic and commercial
Houses, flats, shops and light industrial. Insurance work included.
Ask us anything before you commit
Including the awkward questions: how long you have been going, who is actually doing the work, and whether the quote covers everything. We would rather answer them now.
