Brilliant service from Southridge Roofing and Groundworks! Really happy with the work they carried out on the roof. The team were professional, friendly and worked to a really high standard. They were reliable, tidy and clearly knew what they were doing. The finished roof looks great and I’m really pleased with the result. Storm damage we repair
- Tiles blown off
Missing or broken tiles replaced with a match, and the courses either side checked for fixings that let go.
- Ridge and hip tiles
Ridge and hip tiles lifted or thrown off by the wind, rebedded or refixed.
- Verges
The edge of the roof at the gable, where the wind gets under the tiles first.
- Felt and flashings
Felt torn where tiles have gone, and lead peeled back from walls and stacks, put back watertight.
After a night of high wind the damage is not always where you would look for it. A tile on the lawn is obvious, but the ones still on the roof around the gap may have been lifted and dropped back loose, and a ridge that rocked all night can look fine from the street and come off in the next blow. That is why a storm repair starts with a look at the whole slope, not just the hole. Send a photo of what you can see, from the garden, the street or an upstairs window, and say where any water is coming in. That photo is where the pricing starts. When we go up, the slope is checked from ridge to gutter and photographed, and you get a written price for putting it right. Where it needs it, the roof is made watertight first and then repaired with tiles, ridge and lead to match what is there. We do insurance work as well, so the photographs and the written quote come to you ready to pass on to your insurer.
Storm repairs are priced the same way as anything else we do: a look first, then a written price.
From photo to repair
The photo
Whatever you can see from the ground: the gap, the tile on the path, the stain upstairs.
The look
We go up and check the whole slope around the damage, not just the gap, and photograph it.
The written price
A price for making it good, in writing, ready to send to your insurer if you are claiming.
The repair
Watertight first where it needs it, then finished with tiles, ridge and lead to match.

Storm damage questions
Will my home insurance cover storm damage?
That is down to your policy and your insurer, not us. What we can give you is a written quote and photographs of the damage, which is what insurers generally ask to see.
Is it safe to leave a few missing tiles?
A gap lets rain onto the felt, and the loose tiles round it can go in the next wind. It is worth having looked at before the next storm rather than after it.
Should I go up and look myself?
No. A wet or wind damaged roof is no place for a ladder. A photo from the garden or an upstairs window is all we need to begin.
Do you repair storm damage to chimneys and flashings?
Yes. Lead peeled back by the wind and mortar knocked off a stack are repaired as part of the same job. There is more on stacks on our chimney repairs page.
What does the visit cost?
It is free, and so is the written price that comes after it.
